Resolution of Unnecessary Suffering
By Mary Helen Gautreaux

I am happy to say that Robert is coming back to Baton Rouge for two weeks of intensive teaching and training in a course called "Healing the Wounded Heart." He will be here from June 15-19th and again from July 20-24th. A powerful course combining a merciful attitude with extraordinarily effective tools, Healing the Wounded Heart is open to anyone. Individuals who seek personal change and growth will come, as well as coaches, therapists, social workers, ministers, body-workers, NLP practitioners, nurses and other helpers of all kinds.

Those who attend will hear a lot about Robert's model, the Heart and the Sword, a union of compassion and precision tools for personal transformation. The Heart is not a tool. It is an ancient metaphor for love, understanding, compassion and acceptance. By itself it is powerless to bring about specific change. If we want specific, predictable, deep and lasting change, we need more than the Heart. If we want to alter the   face of unwanted and unnecessary suffering, we need precise technologies. In a word, we need the Sword. Not a real sword, of course, the Sword is a metaphor for action, and refers to a set of skills that are goal-oriented, precise methods, processes and tools to create change.

Most of us want to grow and achieve our dreams. Often we cannot get what we want because our inner maps--our mental representations of reality--are impoverished. On some level we are stuck. None of our current skills helps to achieve our desired outcomes, and we cannot find a way. "Healing the Wounded Heart" provides a way to enrich our maps and take us where we want to go. The Heart and the Sword are profoundly effective when they work together. The Heart gently reveals what is needed, while the Sword creates the step by step  procedures to achieve it. Together they offer unlimited possibilities for new meaning, purpose, joy and personal empowerment.

By the time you read this and I see Robert again, my brother and I will have taken our annual fishing trip. I feel confident in  saying that we will have caught our limit once again. And if not, well, I know how to resolve that.
