Preserving Our History

Ascension Parish Library has launched a new project dedicated to the collection and digital preservation of images, documents, and interviews to record the unique history of Ascension parish. The library is accepting personal historical images and documents to include in their Digital Library collection. In addition to photographs, they are also accepting yearbooks, church directories, advertisements, and any other materials related to Ascension parish’s culture and history. Ascension Parish Library is the newest member of the Louisiana Digital Consortium, a collection of libraries, universities, and archives that make their digital collections freely available to the public through the Louisiana Digital Library.  To view the library’s collection, visit https://louisianadigitallibrary.org/apl

If you are interested in sharing your materials with the library, please contact Assistant Library Director Christopher Achee at (225) 647-3955 or cachee@myapl.org to schedule an appointment.  The library will scan your items and return them to you!

Do you have an incredible story to tell?  The library is also conducting oral history interviews. Contact Dutchtown Assistant Librarian Chandler Taylor at (225) 673-8699 or ctaylor@myapl.org for more information.
